About

Sons {and daughters} are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. Psalm 127: 3-5

I love this verse from Psalm. Children are such a blessing and so precious, each one is different and unique. My 2 boys are a gift and every day I thank God for them. I praise Him for giving me the ability to create baby stuff and to be a stay-at-home mom to my 2 boys. In the midst of the chaos, there is still peace that comes from Him and from my crochet.

I didn't learn crochet until I was in my 20's, but began sewing in college. I worked in the costume shop, although I preferred the stage:-), but really enjoyed costume design and prop making. I think the first thing I learned to make was a 19th century corset!

I originally learned the basics of crochet from a friend at work. She was EXTREMELY patient with me. She would sit and teach me one stitch each time we met. Then I would work on that stitch until I perfected it. I learned more and more stitches each time. Also, I am left-handed and she is right-handed so it wasn't easy but I seemed to catch on pretty quickly. After I learned the basics, I began watching you tube videos. I crocheted everything you can image! Click on my Learn To Crochet tab to find out more.

Happy Baby Crochet began as Happy Baby Shoes in 2008 when I began crocheting baby shoes and hats for my first son. I absolutely LOVE soft sole baby shoes but while seeking out the perfect soft shoe for my son, I ended up making my own! I wanted to make something unique and found some super cute crochet patterns online.

I gradually began making newborn hats and shoes and doing customs. Then when baby #2 came along, I had to slow down my crochet. He is now 5 years old, so I am happily back to crochet and making baby stuff! I want to share what I am creating, posting free patterns, talking crochet, and just making babies look even more adorable than they already are!
