Christmas at Happy Baby Crochet

Happy Baby Reindeer Hat

Christmas is right around the corner and things have been busy as usual around here! This is definitely been my busiest season yet. I am so thankful to my customers and especially repeat business. I am also so grateful  for the reviews left by customers in my Etsy shop. These keep me motivated to keep creating and selling. Most of all I am blessed by God to be a stay-at-home mom and to keep doing what I love.

This Christmas I wanted to find ways to keep Christ in Christmas. One resource I have enjoyed is reading daily devotions from FaithGateway. Just reading these devotions every day has really helped me to focus on what is really important about Christmas. I have also enjoyed making scarves for Knit Together In Love. The scarves sent to needy children around the world. It gives me joy to use my skills to hopefully put a smile on a child's face or help them be warm this winter. I have also been working on a song to sing at church for Christmas. Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant is a beautiful song. Praising God with my voice is one way I can use my gifts for Him at Christmas.

My Etsy shop will be closed to new orders until after January. I will be organizing all of my end of the year tax information (fun time!) and hopefully working on some pattern writing. I know one day I will get organized enough to release some of my patterns. It has been so hard to complete this task but I have faith!

Merry Christmas and enjoy this time with your babies....they grow so fast. These Christmas memories will last forever!

Blessings,
Jenny

Free Crochet Patterns - newborn photography props

This week I am sharing a link to Winding The Skein's post about Free Crochet Patterns for Newborn Photography Props. What a great post! I have actually tried out some of these patterns and all of the writers are very good. Keep in mind, these free patterns are copyrighted works and credit should be given to the original owners. These are great projects for beginners!

And by the way, check out Winding the Skein's yarn shop for gorgeous handspun yarn.  I adore her yarns...they are super soft and perfect for making crochet baby hats.

I HEART Twins!

I was just going through my photos this week and realized how many twins have modeled my hats! I had to share these amazing photos.

Aren't they just the most beautiful things?!! Two blessings at once...what a gift from God! My sister has twins and I've know many couples with twins and friends who are twins. My son actually has 2 sets on his soccer team! I am just amazed at God's creativity to give select parents multiple babies at one time. I'm sure he also knew these parents could handle the hard work!

I just think twins are so interesting...how they interact with one other, and how close they are. I know some sleep in the same crib or bed together. How sweet!

I am just so thankful that God made twins and all sets of multiples!

Football Season at Happy Baby Crochet

Football Season is finally here! This is the time of year when things start to get really busy here at Happy Baby Crochet. I have several football themed hats and props for babies. Crochet baby hats make great baby shower gifts!

I myself am an Auburn fan, but secretly have a heart for Alabama football(just don't tell my family, hehe!). Baby tigers and elephants are just too cute!

Here are some of my creations. Visit my etsy shop to order!

Crochet Flower Pattern

I worked up a bunch of these crochet flowers for my mom to use for her crafts. They are quick and easy to crochet.  They look great on crochet baby hats too. I sewed pearls to the center but you can sew buttons, stones, use brads, or whatever you prefer.

My Very Hungry Caterpillar Newborn Set

Photos by Angel Eyes Photography -
Design and Images are Copyrighted works
(please do not crop, copy, or use as your own.
Feel free to pin or blog but link back here.)
My absolute favorite set that I make is my newborn Very Hungry Caterpillar hat and cocoon. No matter how many times I make this set, I still love it. The yarn is nice and soft. (This set is made using the good stuff....no cheap acrylic here!)

My boys just love The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. I adore the illustrations. My youngest loves reading the part, “On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon." He always begs to read that part...makes me giggle!

I love this set because it's classic. The hungry caterpillar will always be a special read and will never get old. We have read it over and over again. It's simple, funny, and a wonderful display of God's beautiful design and creation. And let's face it, newborns make the cutest caterpillars!

You can purchase this set in my etsy shop HERE

God Bless you and your babies!

New Item! Crochet Striped Baby Pants

These crochet newborn pants are very popular right now. I decided to make my little striped pants as a set with a matching beanie hat. I just love these colors and the pants are so soft and chunky. Perfect for a Fall baby boy. This yarn is a boutique-quality yarn which works up really nice.

Jessica from Bella Bebe Photography took some adorable photos of them!

This matching set is now available to order in my etsy shop!

From Yarn Scraps to New Pillows! Recycling Left-over Yarn

AGH....I have bags and bags of yarn scraps!! What do I do with all of this left-over yarn making clutter in my house?? I feel horrible throwing it away, so I wanted to think of an alternative way for me to recycle my yarn scraps. Well, here is one idea!

From yarn scraps to cool pillows.

I wanted to make some chevron pillows for my very old and ugly couches. I mean, why buy new couches when you have little kids, right? What is the point? So, I thought maybe some updated pillows would liven them up.

Here is what I did:

One of my many yarn scrap piles....

1. Gather your left over yarn -
I have mostly cotton and acrylic.
This is approximately the handful size you want while stuffing your pillows.

2. And some poly-fil

3. Grab your handmade pillow case.
Bought the fabric from Sew Fine Fabric on Etsy Here

4. Time to stuff....work one big handful of yarn scraps and then one big handful of poly. Keep stuffing till your pillows are nice and firm.

5. Sew them up nice and tight and there you go

6. I love my new pillows but the couch has GOT TO GO!

I even used some of the extra fabric to make a cool tag for my hungry caterpillar set!

God Bless,
Jenny
